Green Smoothies – part 10: Prevention of Cancer

No Therapy!

To prevent misunderstandings: Green Smoothies can prevent cancers and support treatments for cancer, however they are not able to heal cancer in and by themselves!

Prevention of Cancer

Cancer is a very complex disease which is still not sufficiently understood, even by scientists.

Due to its composition of fruit and a high percentage of green leaves, the Green Smoothie is a very potent anti-cancer food. The reason for this is that plants contain a wide variety of substances which protect the plant from harmful damages (by bacteria, viruses, fungi, UV-radiation, acid rain and natural enemies…). These secondary plant components (eg: phenols), vitamins, minerals and chlorophyll show healing properties also in the human and can effectively prevent malignancies.

Polyphenols (like resveratrol in the skin of red grapes and plums) activate a certain enzyme, which is only contained in cancer cells, so that the cancer cell destroys itself. Further cancer preventing substances like triterpenes are found in bitter or spicy tasting green plants like Dandelion, or glucosinolates in various cabbage varieties. There are many studies available that show the cancer preventing effects of cabbage, if one ingests 200 – 400 grams cabbage daily. Scientist found that with regular intake of cabbage the risk for lung cancer is significantly reduced. The same is true for pancreatic cancer. Vitamins and minerals neutralise the free radicals, which are harmful for our cells. Therefore less cancer tumours are able to form. Chlorophyll is of  special importance in the protection from cancer.

For effective cancer prevention, it is important to keep the following in mind: one litre of Green Smoothies should contain 200 – 350 gram green leaves and 100 – 200 grams unpeeled fruit, often including the stones or pips. Peels and pips or stones contain important cancer preventing ingredients.

  • Important: as much leafy vegetables as possible! This should also contain bitter and spicy wild herbs like dandelion, yarrow as well as spicy plants like savoy cabbage, Pok Choi and Rucula (rocket).  Vary the ingredients of your Green Smoothies regularly, using what is in season. 
  • Drink the Green Smoothie as fresh as possible  daily so that you can profit from the concentrated bio-photone-energy of the vitality ingredients.
  • Drink 1 – 2 litres daily – here the motto ‘more is more’ is valid.
  • Allow yourself to remove fried and fatty foods, refined sugar and white flour, as well as fast foods and ready made convenient foods more and more from your menu.

Recipes to Prevent Cancer

Cancer Prevention 1

  • 2 small apples
  • 200 g red grapes
  • 6 fresh figs (or 4 soaked, dried ones)
  • 1/4 – 1 lemon, peeled
  • 12 milk thistle leaves
  • 1 hand full goat weed (if available)
  • 1/2 litre water

makes approx. 1.5 litres

Cancer Prevention 2

  • 200 g rasp berries
  • 50 g mulberries, fresh ordried and soaked
  • juice of 1/2 to 1 lemon
  • 1 hand full of raspberry leaves
  • 1/2 hand full rocket
  • 7 leaves dandelion
  • 1/2 litre water

makes approx. 1.5 litres

Cancer Prevention 3

  • 1 banana
  • 2 peaches
  • 150 g raspberries
  • 1 hand full raspberry leaves
  • 4 leaves sorrel
  • 2 hands full tatsoi
  • 1/2 litre water

makes approx. 1.5 litres

Cancer Prevention 4

  • 1 small apple
  • 6 prunes, without pip
  • 3 dried prunes, soaked (without pip)
  • 2 kiwis
  • 1 cm ginger (unpeeled)
  • 8 beet root leaves
  • 8 kale leaves, without stems
  • 4 chard leaves
  • 1/2 litre water

makes approx. 1 litre

Cancer Prevention 5

  • 1 hand full leaves of ‘Fat Hen’
  • 1 hand full stinging nettle leaves (use 1 tablesoon if fresh leaves are not available)
  • 4 sorrel leaves
  • 4 sprigs ground ivy
  • 1/2 peeled lemon
  • 2 cm ginger, unpeeled
  • 1/2 litre water

Cancer Prevention 6

  • 1 banana
  • 2 small apples
  • 1 hand full stinging nettle leaves
  • 1 hand full yarrow
  • 3 dates
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 handfull yarrow leaves
  • 3 dates
  • juice of 1/2 – 1 lemon
  • 1/2 litre water

makes approx. 1 litre

Cancer Prevention 7

  • 1 mango without stone
  • 1 apple
  • 1 cm ginger, unpeeles
  • 1 hand full stinging nettle leaves
  • 2 leaves pok-choi
  • 10 daisies
  • 1/4 litre water.

makes approx. 3/4 litres

Cancer Prevention 8

  • 1 banana
  • 200 g blueberries
  • 1 cm ginger, unpeeled
  • 5 Dandelion leaves
  • 2 leaves savoy cabbage
  • 1/2 litre water
